Direct and Indirect Search for Dark Matter
Direct and indirect searches for dark matter (DM) particles are discussed. The search for a diffuse signal from DM annihilation in the Milky Way is presented using the atmospheric neutrino data from Super-Kamiokande-I, -II, -III. The analysis focuses on the model independent scenario with DM particles annihilating directly into pairs of neutrinos and antineutrinos. No signal contribution is all...
متن کاملPolarization coherent anti-Stokes Raman scattering microscopy.
We report polarization coherent anti-Stokes Raman scattering (P-CARS) microscopy that allows vibrational imaging with high sensitivity and spectral selectivity. The nonresonant background signals from both Raman scatterers and the solvent are efficiently suppressed in P-CARS microscopy. We demonstrate P-CARS imaging of unstained cells based on the contrast of the protein amide I band.
متن کاملInline holographic coherent anti-Stokes Raman microscopy.
We demonstrate a simple approach for inline holographic coherent anti-Stokes Raman scattering (CARS) microscopy, in which a layer of uniform nonlinear medium is placed in front of a specimen to be imaged. The reference wave created by four-wave mixing in the nonlinear medium can interfere with the CARS signal generated in the specimen to result in an inline hologram. We experimentally and theor...
متن کاملStatus and perspectives of indirect and direct dark matter searches
In this review article the current status of particle dark matter is addressed. We discuss the main theoretical extensions of the standard model which allow to explain dark matter in terms of a (yet undiscovered) elementary particle. We then discuss the theoretical predictions for the searches of particle dark matter: direct detection in low background underground experiments and indirect detec...
متن کاملThe Direct and Indirect Detection ofWeakly Interacting Dark Matter
An ever-increasing body of evidence suggests that weakly interacting massive particles (WIMPs) constitute the bulk of the matter in the Universe. Experimental data, dimensional analysis and Standard Model particle physics are suucient to evaluate and compare the performance of detectors searching for such particles either directly (e.g. by their scattering in germanium detectors), or indirectly...
